چکیده

The plaque-hke spindle poles in bakers ' yeast have been observed by several investigators, bu t the relaUonship of these structures to the nuclear envelope has not been clearly shown Several authors have noted an association of the p laque wi th a nuclear pore. Rob inow and 3,{arak (10) repor ted t h a t mitot ic spindle plaques were "se t in to" nuclear pores, and according to M o o r (7) plaques are seen to be si tuated m nuclear pores also in freeze-etched mitotic ceils Rappor t (8) stated t ha t mitot ic an d meiotic plaques "s i t " on nuc lea r pores, even though the nuclear envelope is too poorly defined in her figures to v[suahze any association wi th the plaque.

Outer plaque assembly and spore encapsulation are defective during sporulation of adenylate cyclase-deficient mutants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Sporulation in diploid cells homozygous for the cyr1-2 mutation of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was examined. This mutation causes a defect in adenylate cyclase and temperature-sensitive arrest in the G1 phase of the mitotic cell cycle. The cyr1-2/cyr1-2 diploid cells were able to initiate meiotic divisions, but produced predominantly two-spored asci at the restrictive temperature. Temper...

Spindles, Spindle Plaques, and Meiosis in the Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (hansen)

The intranuclear spindle of yeast has an electron-opaque body at each pole. These spindle plaques lie on the nuclear envelope. During mitosis the spindle elongates while the nuclear membranes remain intact. After equatorial constriction there are two daughted nuclei, each with one spindle plaque. The spindle plaque then duplicates so that two side-by-side plaques are produced. These move rapidl...

Initiation of Ageing Process by Meiotic and Mitotic Recombination within the Ribosomal DNA Genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

In the budding yeast of Saccharomyces cerevisiae the tandem repeated of rDNA genes are located onchromosome XII, which is in the nucleolus. There are different types of proteins in the nucleoluskeleton, silencing proteins have got important role in nucleolus. It is shown that meiotic recombination between nonsister chromatids in the rDNA genes are stronglysuppressed, and s...

MPS3 mediates meiotic bouquet formation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

In meiotic prophase, telomeres associate with the nuclear envelope and accumulate adjacent to the centrosome/spindle pole to form the chromosome bouquet, a well conserved event that in Saccharomyces cerevisiae requires the meiotic telomere protein Ndj1p. Ndj1p interacts with Mps3p, a nuclear envelope SUN domain protein that is required for spindle pole body duplication and for sister chromatid ...

Depletion of H2A-H2B dimers in Saccharomyces cerevisiae triggers meiotic arrest by reducing IME1 expression and activating the BUB2-dependent branch of the spindle checkpoint.

In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, diploid strains carrying homozygous hta1-htb1Delta mutations express histone H2A-H2B dimers at a lower level than do wild-type cells. Although this mutation has only minor effects on mitotic growth, it causes an arrest in sporulation prior to the first meiotic division. In this report, we show that the hta1-htb1Delta mutant exhibits reduced expression of e...
